I have 9 of the set from 1977. The set was just given to me. If someone would like to make me an offer for them, I will be willing to sell them.

Barb and Dave say:   Rebecca,
Hopefully someone will see this in the guestbook. You can also sell these on eBay which is the best source for secondary market ornaments from this collection.

What a wonderful site! My grandmother started purchasing ornaments for all her grandchildren back in the 1980's. Each year we would receive 1 ornament each and it was always a special treat to see which each one of us received. I would love to start adding to my collection - this is a great website to start my research.

Thank you!

Barb and Dave say:   Lisa,
Thank you for visiting our site and for the high praise. You have picked a glorious item to collect! The best site for secondary market ornaments is eBay - minimally, there are 10-15 available at any given time and sometimes the availability increases to over 100 auctions. Good luck with your endeavors.

Hello to all,
I am trying to begin the danbury mint christmas collection because the ornaments are so beautiful. How can I receive these ornaments or collect these ornaments? Can anyone send me any information? My sister-in-law collects these items and they are beautiful. Can anyone help me?

Barb and Dave say:   Janice,
Thanks for visiting our Danbury site. To start collecting the Danbury Mint
Gold Christmas Ornament Collection, simply contact Danbury Mint Customer Service:

The Danbury Mint
47 Richards Avenue
Norwalk, CT 06857
1-800-243-4664
Monday - Friday
9 am - 5 pm ET

They can get you started with the 2005 collection.

Danbury does not carry a back inventory of their ornaments so the secondary market is the only way for collectors to find these ornaments from past years. The only place I know that you can find these would be on eBay and there are minimally 20-25 ornaments available at any given time. Watch the prices. Some eBay sellers start the auctions pretty high. $5 - 10 opening bid is acceptable.

Please visit us often and send any other questions you may have. We are
happy to assist.

I am so grateful to have found your beautiful website. My grandmother began giving my mother the annual ornaments starting with the original up until 1997 when she began suffering from Alzheimer’s and then cancer. After she passed on, the decorating of our tree each year brought back so many wonderful memories. Unfortunately, the entire collection was lost just two years ago due to a moving accident, but your site has brought back those memories again. If anyone has ornaments they are willing to part with I would love to hear from them. In the meantime, I will be keeping a watchful eye on ebay. Thanks for this great site!

Barb and Dave say:   Nicole,
Thank you for visiting our site and many thanks for the compliments. We have found so many wonderful people who adore this collection as much as we do. Keep that watchful eye on eBay. Lately we have seen 100+ Danbury ornaments on any given day and, if you are looking just for the annuals, many of the years you are interested in are available now and the prices generally are quite reasonable. Good luck on your search and continue to check our Guestbook, sometimes we get postings from collectors who are looking to sell directly instead of using eBay. You never know what might show up!

I have a 1984 complete monthly collection and wanted you to know that for over 20 years they have been my favorites. My children and grandchildren love them!

Barb and Dave say:   Karen,
Thanks for visiting us! Danbury truly has made a collection of ornaments that can be heirlooms. It is always nice to hear from people who love these creations as much as we do. Enjoy putting them on your tree again this year!

Very nice site. I have been listing these ornaments on Ebay, have over 100 of them and am almost finished posting them. Your site has been a great help in dating them, and getting the names right. If anyone's interested in seeing what we have, please use this URL unbroken and on one line: http://stores.ebay.com/Susans-Selections_Danbury-Mint-Ornaments_

If you want to contact us by email, go to the Ebay site and use the links in our auctions to reach us.

Thanks, and happy holiday season to all.

Barb and Dave say:   Glad to know we have been of help. I am sure our visitors and collectors appreciate knowing a direct outlet for finding the lovely ornaments. Best

Wow!. This site is amazing. My wife's grandmother started collecting the annual ornaments in 1983. When my wife was a teenager, she took one to school to hang in her locker. It got broken. For years I was going to get it fixed. But it never seems to happen. I am looking for a 1983 annual Skater ornament to replace the damaged one. Also, I am looking for the 1987 annual ornament Toyland. For some reason, grandma forgot to send one that year :). If anyone knows where to go or can help me I would appreciate it. I would like to surprise my wife this year for christmas!

1983 annual SKATERS
1987 annual TOYLAND

Also, how can you tell the difference between a monthly ornament and an annual? I am asking because of the 1983 skater annual and 1982 monthly skater.

Barb and Dave say:   Paul,

Thank you for the comments about our website. We are proud of it and happy that so many people are finding it useful.

You've probably noticed that we edited your two messages into one. Easier to respond to that way...

And you might be in luck! You might find the 1987 Toyland and 1983 Skaters on eBay or, a visitor to our site might have these ornaments to sell. They can reach you directly via our Guestbook.

You also asked about telling the difference between the 1982 Skaters
(correctly called "Dancing Skaters) and the 1983 Annual Skaters. There is
nothing structural or design-based by which you can differentiate monthly
issues from annual issues but, Danbury actually imprints the issue year on
nearly all the ornaments. I was able to identify and catalog the ornaments
based on the issue list I received from The Danbury Mint and locating the
issue date on each ornament. When we redo our site, some of the dates will
actually be visible on the new photos of the ornaments. KEEP WATCHING and good luck finding your 1983 and 1987 Annuals.

I started collecting the annual gold Christmas ornaments for my granddaughter since her birth in 1999. Every year it is a struggle for me to get the current ornament because I get nothing in the mail from Danbury Mint. Is there an easy way and how do I get the 2004 ornament? Help, please!
October 17, 2004 19:10 - Fredericksburg, Virginia

Barb and Dave say:   Thanks for writing, Carrie! Danbury Mint used to send Annual Ornament announcements only to their subscribers who get all the ornaments. However, they also always offer the Annual Ornament through their catalog. I just received my 2004 Annual and it seems that Danbury Mint now offers an Annual Ornament Subscription open to collectors of the full set and those who only collect the Annuals. Call their Customer Service Department at 1-800-243-4664. They are open Monday - Friday from 9 am - 5 pm ET and they would be happy to assist you. You should be able to order the 2004 Annual Ornament when you call them. Be sure to mention us at LadnerWeb!

Hello. Wow, this is a great site, thank you so much. I recently acquired several ornaments through a garage sale. Im hoping to acquire more. But I had no idea what it was I had, exactly, until I looked up the Danbury Mint and found your site. I have several odd pieces, but I need to make a list of them. I might be interested in helping others acquire finishing pieces if I have any they need, after I make a list. Will write again soon, Thanks again, I love your site.

Barb and Dave say:   Dear Barbara (GREAT Name!),
We are always happy to hear that our site is useful to collectors. These are exquisite ornaments and we wish you luck as you begin your collection. Also,if you are interested in helping others complete their collections, this initial posting of your message may get people to contact you. We may also be able to provide some sort of link to you from our site if you decide this is something you really want to pursue. In any case, welcome to the beautiful world of the Danbury Mint Gold Ornament Collection.

Wanted you to know that I have almost completed my quest for missing annual ornaments. When I first wrote, you suggested ebay. Have found all the ones needed, except 1976, the first one! Will continue my search. Thanks for your suggestions. May have some duplicates to sell. Will let you know. Thanks again.
July 9, 2004 16:07 - Rochelle Park, N.J.

Barb and Dave say:   Congratulations, Ruth! There was recently a 1976 Angel on eBay that sold for about $80.00. Just keep your eyes open and so will I.
