Since writing a mesage here we went on line to E-bay: and to our surprise have been able to purchase additional years to as to our collection. We now have 18 years worth on our tree thi year which is done in a white tree to show off the gold. People viit and love our tree and ornaments. Still looking for more years to fill in.

Barb and Dave say:   These ornaments are addictive aren't they! Although we have no financial interest in eBay, it is the very best source for finding both full year boxed sets as well as individual ornaments. Congratulations on your finds and good luck on your continued collecting.

Did the Danbury mint ever issue "A Night Before Christmas Gold Ornament Collection"? The ornaments that I mentioned in my previous message were in a box labeled as such. Also many of the ornaments illustrate parts of the story. Any ideas?

Barb and Dave say:   Yes they did but I have no information about them. I have seen that set for sale on eBay. Possibly calling Danbury Customer Service can yield some info on the collection.

I recently purchase some danbury mint gold ornaments from a consignment shop. A few of them are dated, some not. Also a few of them have painted surfaces added to them. I have collected many of the gold ornaments over the years, but have never seen any with painted surfaces added to them. Does anybody know anything about these?

This site is wonderful in helping to identify ornaments - great job! I am desperately trying to find 1978 and 1979 - entire years. Anyone willing to sell these to me? Also, how do you contact people who leave a message. I have tried clicking on the envelop but the e-mail addresses do not seem to work.

Barb and Dave say:   Nancy-

The envelope will work if you change the ~AT~ to @ and the ~DOT~ to .

This is done purposely so that email addresses are a little bit safer from electronic harvesting.

I've been trying to complete my mother's annual danbury mint gold ornament collection that my grandmother gave as gifts every year and my aunt now gives to me. We are missing 1977 and 1978, I have recently found the 1977 on ebay, but have been unable to find the annual 1978 ornament - if anyone is selling one (or both) please contact me.

Thank you.

My sister and I have just spent the better part of 2 days organizing the
large collection of Danbury Mint ornaments gathered by my recently deceased
mother-in-law over the past 20 or so years. Without your website,
identification of these many ornaments would have been impossible. I think I
have them all sorted out, and I do not want this project to end without
expressing my gratitude to you.

I think it was very unwise of Danbury Mint (which is our neighboring town,
by the way) to not engrave the date in a larger font on these ornaments. My
mother-in-law had poor close-range vision, and it would have been an utter
impossibility to sort these out herself. I have excellent close vision, and
it was a struggle for me!

I note that the Danbury Mint seems to have incorporated numerals in the more
recent additions. Let's hope they get the idea that it would be a lot more
meaningful for families to reflect on past seasons if they could identify
the years without consulting a photo album or website! Here wishing you a
long season of happy holidays!

I have a several years collection of these ornaments [dating back to the 1970's] which I thought I would leave to my children after I'm gone, only to find out my children have no interest in them. I am currently compling a complete list of every ornament and am looking to sell. Anyone interested or can give me some advise on how to go about this sale.

Barb and Dave say:   The best place to sell these ornaments is on eBay. If no one contacts you via our Guestbook, I highly recommend that you consider using eBay. The collectors will probably eat them up!

I love your beautiful website! (Almost as much as the ornaments themselves!) Your pictures for the 1978 and 1979 "Pointsettia" show an identical ornament. Doesn't the 1978 Pointsettia ornament incorporate both a flower and a pot? Could you please clarify this for me? Thank you!

And thank you for all the hard work you have put into this website -- very well done!
